Why use a Conveyor for Tire Handling
For any warehouse storing tires on a mezzanine, or wishing to do so, a
tire conveyor is definitely a great investment. Made for this
purpose, it can greatly facilitate the handling of tires from floor to
floor and save a lot of time, hassle and reduce risks of injuries with
the simple use of a tire conveyor. Easy to use, a tire
conveyor will haul the tires from the lower floor to the higher one
with minimal effort, and at a great pace. The TC-15 tire
conveyor at Martins Industries are standard 15’ long and can
handle about 12 tires/minute (that’s 1 tire/5 seconds.) and
can service a mezzanine 12’ high, leaving a 1’
hangover to drop the tires on the level. Construction
Made on the same
principle as conveyors for mining, or transporting other heavy
equipment, a tire conveyor should have a commercial grade rubber belt
made up of
2 plies, and should rest on rollers to provide it with support
while moving the goods. The rollers will have ball
bearings, and although those require little maintenance, they should
be checked one once i
n a while to
ensure the good life of the conveyor. The
motor of the conveyor should provide enough
strength to carry more than the maximum load it can move at once to
keep a good pace. The steel frame is covered with powder coat
paint for resistance against impacts and friction from the tires and
equipments in the tire warehouse.

The
installation of
the tire conveyor is real easy. It's equipped with a
stability
plate at the bottom and needs only 4 bolts to be secured to the floor.
The motor has a 16' cord that plugs in a 115V outlet and it's
ready to use.
Simple Use
The
use of the conveyor is real simple, put the tires on the belt, on the
cleats, and let the conveyor do the work. 2 workers
are
needed to operate efficiently the conveyor, one on each end.
There are simple controls on each end also, forward, reverse,
stop and an additional emergency stop button at the bottom control
panel.
